Wednesday Optional tour – Budapest City Tour
The Hungarian capital Budapest is a relatively young city, emerged only in the late 19th century as a result of the merger of two neighbouring towns - Buda on the western bank of the Danube and Pest on the eastern bank.
Set on the hills, Buda represents a historic part of the city and is a home to the grand Hapsburg palace which still breathes the imperial air of old-time wealth. While in Buda – standing on the Castle Hill or Gellért Hill – you can enjoy a sweeping view of the opposite Pest, which lies across the river. Compared to Pest, Buda is considerably more relaxed, with its life running at a much slower pace and its profile kept much lower too.
During this 3-hour sightseeing tour you will see the highlights of the city.
On the Buda side, you will discover the Castle Area by walk, the Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion.
On the Pest side the tour will go on by coach. The Heroes Square, Andrássy út, the Opera House, Basilica and Parliament can be seen.
To pump up the tour, we will have a sweet stop at the world-famous Gerbeaud House, where you can enjoy not only the atmosphere of a Coffee House of the Millennium time, but also a delicious traditional dessert with a coffee or tea.
The registration fee includes: the guided tour, entrance fees to the Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion, Cake stope at Gerbeaud House.

ROYAL & RURAL LIFE TOUR
The tour will start with a visit of the summer residence of Franz Joseph and Queen Elisabeth in Gödöllő, situated 30 km far from Budapest.
After the Gödöllő Castle, you will be taken to the Lázár Equestrian Park, which is just a short coach drive.
Upon arrival, apricot brandy and cakes will wait for you. After that, you will be invited for a typical Hungarian horse-show. You will able to have a look at the stables with the world champion horses, the showing room of the Lázár brothers’ awards and prizes, as well as a small village court with the indigenous animals of the Hungarian country life.
The program ends with a typical Hungarian lunch.

Jewish Heritage Tour with flódni tasting
Budapest has the biggest Jewish community in Middle Eastern Europe, with an active religious, artistic and historical heritage. Through centuries the Hungarian and Jewish history has been so entwined that it is almost inseparable. Jewish played and still play an important role in the country’s economic, cultural and political life. It is the biggest synagogue in Europe.
During the tour the guests can taste a typical Jewish delicacy the flódni. You will also visit the Shoes Memorial.
The Jewish area is in walking distance from the Kempinski, so the tour can be done by walk.
Lunch will take place at the famous New-York Café. The restaurant is situated in an elegant 19th-century building in the heart of Budapest, close to the Opera and Andrássy Boulevard.
Cultural afternoon
During this program, you can have a look into the different aspect of the Hungarian culture:
- Architect & History – private visit of the Hungarian Parliament, which is the landmark of the city
- Gastronomy - strudel making / tasting
- Wine Culture – wine tasting at a hidden treasure cellar in the hear of the city
The program takes around 2,5 - 3 hours by walk

Excursion to Szentendre
Located app. 30 minutes’ drive from Budapest, this charming town is set by the Danube that makes this place ideal for relaxing walks along the river, and an exciting discovery of the Hungarian folk, arts and cuisine.
You will discover the city and visit the Kovács Margit Museum. You will enjoy a lunch in the town, at a lovely restaurant.
After lunch you will visit the Skanzen, where you can see the rural life of Hungary.
