Wednesday Optional tour – Bordeaux historical center
Tour of Bordeaux with your private guide to discover an 18th century jewel that is the Place de la Bourse and the Quartier Saint Pierre, which is truly the historic heart of the city, with its picturesque old streets.
You will visit the Saint André Cathedral and see the Grosse Cloche, one the oldest belfries in France, the former private mansions, old churches….
You will also visit the Rohan Palace. Located near the Saint-André cathedral, the Rohan Palace has housed the Bordeaux City Hall since 1837. You will discover the backstage of this emblematic monument, built between 1771 and 1784 at the initiative of the archbishop of Bordeaux, Ferdinand Maximilien Mériadec de Rohan. In turn, the Rohan palace became the Archbishop's residence, the departmental residence, the seat of the revolutionary court, the prefecture, the imperial palace and then the royal palace. It became the city hall in 1835. Behind its Louis XVI style façade is one of the most beautiful staircases in France, considered one of the masterpieces of stone carving. You will also pass through the remarkable rooms of the Rohan Palace, and the city council room, built in 1889 and characteristic of the architecture under the Third Republic.
The visit includes a gourmet tour to discover some local products such as the essential cannelés or the famous Dunes Blanches, these chouquettes topped with a cream whose recipe is a well-kept secret !

Bay of Arcachon
The Bay of Arcachon, with its Banc d’Arguin, Dune du Pyla and huts built on stilts will give you a total change of scenery, less than an hour away from the centre of Bordeaux
Programme:
- Early departure by bus towards the port of Arcachon.
- Departure for a 2h cruise in the Arcachon basin by motor shuttle
- After the heart of the Basin, discover the Île aux Oiseaux, the Tchanquées huts, then sail along the oyster-farming villages.
- Oysters and white wine tasting on board.
- Continuation of the cruise, descent of the Cap Ferret peninsula and navigation along the Arcachonnaise coast.
- Return to the port of Arcachon.
- Lunch in Arcachon at Hôtel Ville d’Hiver.
- Climb to the Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe
- Return to Bordeaux at the end of the afternoon.

Stop to see the digital art exhibition at The Bassins des Lumières :
“Venice, from Canaletto to Monet” : The immersive exhibition takes you on a journey of discovery of the artistic and architectural treasures of the city of Venice and “Sorolla Walk on the beach” : This exhibition immerses you into the works of Joaquín Sorolla, one of the leading Spanish painters of the twentieth century.
The Bassins des Lumières : Bordeaux’s submarine base was built by the german during the second world war. Culture spaces is bringing the base back to life by creating the largest french digital art center holding major immersive expositions. The Bassins des Lumières offers visitors high-quality visual and audio experiences in exhibitions that are perfectly adapted to the spaces in which they are held, and which are devoted to the major artists in the history of art and contemporary art.
Visit of Darwin, an alternative and inspiring eco system
Located on the right bank of Bordeaux, this former disused barracks, now eco-rehabilitated, is one of the most visited places in the city. On more than 3 hectares, Darwin organizes the collaboration between the actors of the territory contributing to the transition towards more cooperative and resilient models of society. Entire sections of walls dedicated to street-art, skate-park, organic restaurant and grocery store, urban farm, coworking spaces, business incubator, bicycle repair workshops, roller-derby club and ground, conference rooms, concerts …Darwin is a real ecosystem where every day more than a thousand people meet there.

Optional Tour: Day trip to Saint-Emilion
Saint Emilion is known worldwide for its prestigious red wines, its well-known appellations including classified grands crus, and for the magnificent wine-growing châteaux in the surrounding area.
It a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic and unique wine-growing landscapes Despite its small size, this village hides many treasures, especially in its underground (catacombs, Hermitage grotto, etc.), and has a rich historical and religious heritage.
During the visit of the village, you will discover the Monolithic Church which is an underground religious building excavated at the beginning of the 12th century in impressive proportions (38m long and 12m high). In the heart of the city, the monolithic church recalls the religious activity of the city in the Middle Ages and is intriguing by its unusual design. If it reveals itself to the visitor's eyes through the position of a 68-meter-high bell tower, it then hides behind the elegance of three openings in the facade and an often closed Gothic portal.
Lunch In the heart of the Saint-Emilion vineyards, at restaurant the Terrasse Rouge which is located above the cellars of Château La Dominique in a building designed by the famous architect Jean Nouvel.
In the afternoon, visit and wine tasting at Château Fleur Cardinale, familial estate which has earned the rank of Grand Cru Classé in 2006
